Privacy first: zero-upload, browser-only conversion
Your privacy matters to us. We have focused on developing conversion tools that work entirely in your browser, so you can convert and edit files without handing those files to a remote conversion server. This zero-upload approach is a deliberate part of how we build Convert.app, rather than an optional setting you need to enable.
For our conversion tools, zero upload means the selected file stays on your device for processing; browser only means the conversion runs in your browser instead of on our server. We do not need to receive or retain a copy of that file to perform the conversion. Ordinary page requests, external resource downloads and server logs are explained separately below, so this promise is not confused with a claim that visiting a website creates no network traffic.
Convert.app provides file converters, unit and currency calculators, and browser tools. The public tools can be used without creating an account. File conversion and editing take place in your browser: the tools provided by this site do not upload your selected files or entered content to our server for conversion.
Selected files and generated results are held in the page's working memory during processing. Closing the page normally ends that processing, while files you download remain on your device until you remove them. We cannot retrieve a file that stayed only in your browser. Please avoid using sensitive material on a shared or untrusted device.
The instant search downloads a language-specific index and matches your query in the browser. The search box does not send a request to our server for each query or keystroke. Opening a result still makes a normal request for that page.
Currency rates are retrieved and cached by our server. The calculator does not send the amount you enter to the external rate source. Rates can be delayed or temporarily unavailable; when this happens, the site may display the last saved valid values with a notice.
Technical data and server logs
Local file processing does not make a visit anonymous. Loading pages, scripts, fonts and other resources involves network requests. Our hosting provider and security infrastructure may record an IP address, requested URL, request time, browser information, response status and technical error details.
These records support delivery of the site, troubleshooting, stability and protection against abuse. A URL you open can reveal the tool or conversion pair you are using. Do not put passwords, confidential text or other sensitive information into page URLs.
Cookies and browser storage
The current public tool code does not include advertising or audience-tracking scripts. It does not deliberately save selected file contents or search queries as a persistent browsing profile. Browser caching, local storage and cookies are different technologies, and they should not be treated as the same thing.
- Browser cache: your browser may retain scripts, fonts, search indexes and other site resources to avoid downloading them again. Cache retention depends on browser settings and resource headers.
- Technical local storage: some document components may save compatibility state. For example, the PowerPoint viewer may use a local-storage flag named
isPPTXjsReLoaded. This is technical state, not a copy of your presentation.
- Operational cookies: hosting or security services may use cookies for service delivery or protection. Their presence and lifetime depend on the services configured for the live site.
- Your controls: you can inspect, block or clear cookies and site storage in your browser settings. Clearing site data may reset technical state and require resources to download again; deleting site data does not delete files you have already downloaded to your device.
There is no optional analytics or advertising consent to collect for scripts that are not currently installed. If optional tracking is introduced, the relevant providers, purposes and storage must be explained and appropriate choices provided, including prior consent where required. Continuing to browse is not treated as consent to optional tracking.
External resources and services
Pages use Google Fonts. Certain tools also download libraries, OCR workers or language data from content delivery services such as jsDelivr. These requests can disclose your IP address, browser details and any referring-page information permitted by your browser and the site's referrer policy.
Downloading a library or an OCR language model is separate from uploading your selected file: the supplied conversion code processes that file locally. Providers may process connection information in other countries under their own policies. See the Google Privacy Policy and jsDelivr Privacy Policy for information about those providers.
External links lead to independently operated websites. Convert.app does not control their content or privacy practices. Third-party software, names and brands remain subject to their respective licences and rights.
Contact, retention and your rights
For privacy questions, concerns or requests, contact [email protected]. When you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Please do not send passwords, payment details or confidential source files just to report a problem.
Correspondence and operational records should be kept only for as long as needed to address the enquiry, protect the service and satisfy applicable obligations. Browser cache and local-storage retention are also affected by your browser settings; downloaded files are under your control.
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may request access to, correction or deletion of personal information, restriction of processing, or object to processing. You may also contact a relevant data-protection authority. We may need proportionate information to verify and handle a request; some records may have to be retained where applicable law requires it. We cannot erase or provide copies of files that were never sent to us.
Terms of use
Use only files and content that you are authorised to process. Keep your originals and check generated files before using them in an important workflow. Browser support, file structure, codecs, available memory and device capabilities affect conversion quality and performance. Complex layouts, encrypted documents or unsupported formats may not convert as expected.
The tools and information are provided for practical and informational use. Results may contain errors or lose formatting, metadata or quality. Exchange rates and calculations are indicative, not a binding transaction quote or financial advice. Confirm important results and any transaction rate with an appropriate independent source.
Do not use the service to infringe others' rights, distribute malicious material, attack the site or deliberately overload its infrastructure. We may restrict abusive access to keep the service available. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
Updates
We may update this page when the tools, infrastructure or data practices change. New analytics, advertising or other optional integrations must be reflected here before they are used, with any required consent controls in place. The published text and update date identify the version currently available on this site.
